Aeos was just a child when the Hive attacked her village. As usual, the terrible creatures ravaged and burned everything indiscriminately. Neither the meager village militia nor the prayers of the church priests could stop them.

But when another clawed appendage grabbed the orphaned girl, who had been raised at the temple, and scorched her face with infernal flames, a miracle occurred. The heavens parted, and the demonic servant was struck by a radiant beam of light.

The creature died on the spot, and the others quickly scattered. Unfortunately, little remained of the village by then, and Aeos herself had also suffered from the attack. Her face was burned by the demonic insect's touch, while the shining ray of sunlight took away her ordinary human vision and the gift of speech.

However, she saw the Truth. And this truth was that the Sun had chosen her for a sacred mission. A mission in which the rays of the Sun must reach every corner of the world, even the darkest ones. And from there, it would be revealed who is righteous and who is sinful.

Aeos does not speak, fears nothing, and does not hesitate before anything. It is said that she does not eat or drink. Perhaps she is not entirely human. The church officially recognized Aeos as a saint, blessed by the Sun, and anyone who stands under her banner knows they are doing the right thing. Even thawed out spirits, wailing souls, and demonic servants — all are welcomed by her on the sacred crusade.

Perhaps there is something in this world that Leon respects — but its certainly not centralized authority. He always believed that the regular army only exists to dumb down people, and the church even more so. The trouble is that with such views, it's not easy to find employment in human fiefdoms — so he quickly turned to the path of a bandit.

He was quite successful at it: he knew the surrounding lands like the back of his hand, and if he ended up in unfamiliar territory, he quickly adapted. Such is the life of a bandit on the open road: if you want to survive, grow eyes in the back of your head.

Neither officials nor knights could catch him. It was only when the church inquisition led by Fiery Catalina got involved that Leon was captured. The inquisitors set fire to the forest where he was hiding with his people, leaving him with no choice but to surrender.

Leon expected to be executed, but the church offered him a deal — his talents for navigating even the densest forests were too valuable. If he agreed to serve the Temple realm, they would spare his life and allow him and his people to rehabilitate and become devout parishioners.

Devout people, in general, do not fear death. But Leon is mundane.

So he agreed to wear the church collar, whose magic prevents him from escaping, and faithfully serves the Temple of the Sun as a skilled mercenary. Who knows — perhaps one day the collar will break.

But while Anastasia was sweeping the floors of the church and washing the altars, she discovered that she didn't stutter when she sang. And she fell in love with singing — first in solitude. Then, some random churchgoers stopped and listened... and then another... and they all said that Anastasia's song seemed to give them strength.

Perhaps it's because she truly believes in the best in everyone. Some people, hating themselves, begin to hate the world; but for Anastasia, it's different. She loves everyone and believes in their strength. And when she sings her favorite song, the hymn to Arina, that belief shines through.

Perhaps Zenith's fate would have turned out differently if her twin brother, Nadir, didn't have his peculiarities. From a young age, he was interested in questionable magic. He refused to become the best version of himself and engaged in unworthy practices.

At first, Zenith went to the Temple in the hope of reforming him. But over time it became clear that it was impossible — she could only accept her brother and protect him. For that, she needed political influence. Thus, Zenith became one of the leaders of the Temple — the head of the Lightweaver order.

Does she truly believe in the doctrines of the Temple? Yes, of course. Naturally, the aim of any person is to surpass themselves and become better.

It’s just that sometimes, being the best version of one's self means not only embracing the light, but also preserving a hint of darkness within.

Natalida was bitten a long time ago and it was not a pleasant story. Rufus, the local vampire lord, became infatuated with the pretty elven girl and decided to make her his eternal wife. He didn't bother asking for her consent.

She wanted to escape, but there was nowhere to run because of Rufus' influence among both the vampires and the local aristocrats. The elder of her native village, where she tried to take refuge, immediately turned her in for a handsome reward. The same thing happened in the guild of a neighboring town.

That's when Natalida realized that she couldn't trust the bipeds: mortals either feared her or wanted to return her to her "master" for a generous fee. Marl is an ordinary labor zombie raised by Funerella for heavy-duty work. However, the corpse from which he was raised has been buried for too long — apparently not only soil but also a piece of Murmurwoods remains within him.

As a result, Marl constantly gravitates towards the serene whispers of the earth. He senses its pulse — both of the underground terrain and of the surface. Vaguely, he feels the gentle call of Murmurwoods, although only as an echo and it seems that the earth also listens to him — it can suddenly turn into a swamp beneath an enemy's feet or, conversely, into a smooth path in front of him.

Marl is not particularly aware of his surroundings — his consciousness is split between where he is and what the earth whispers to him. However, he is very diligent and follows all instructions. Furthermore, he faithfully and obediently serves his tempestuous creator.

Necropolis Death Knight - Skirmish Hero

Once upon a time, Onkos was a theater director — traveling from city to city and village to village with his troupe. However he never had any luck with the thespians in his employ; the actors always did their own thing, refused to listen and — heavens forgive them — had their own creative vision!

Onkos grew tired of struggling with their disobedience, so he turned to puppets. Being a puppeteer was more peaceful as the puppets didn't act up but they limited Onkos' creative possibilities. First, they were too small and second, how many could he control at once? One? Two?

If only there was a way to control people like puppets… Ah.

That's how Onkos discovered necromancy — a time-consuming remedy. A resurrected skeleton is something between a very stupid person and a puppet: it retains the shred of will and the ability to follow simple commands, but also loves to fall apart and requires constant care and repair. However, it also offers incredible possibilities: skeletons don't need to be fed or entertained and can take any pose or perform any tragedy!

His skill in caring and controlling the skeletons made them perform better than an average necromancer's creation, but alas his art isn't appreciated amongst the Guild.

He doesn't despair though: after all, when you have thousands and thousands of perfect obedient actors, you can create truly epic plays — and the genre of "historical battle drama with unappreciative swine as perishing actors" suits him just fine.

The only thing a woman has is beauty — that's what Laura believed. Once old age had begun to creep up on her, she refused to accept it and started experimenting with night magic.

In an attempt to preserve eternal beauty and youth, Laura invented a spell that was supposed to steal them from another girl. However, Naira doesn't tolerate deceit; instead of the intended effect, the spell cursed Laura, causing her body to decay but never fully decompose — moreover, her curse turned out to be contagious, causing everything Laura touched to start wasting away.

She would prefer to die or to decay completely until only bones remained. Alas, from now on, Laura is doomed to wander eternally — hiding her grotesque and decrepit face, spreading decay around her and trying to rid herself of the hope of ever regaining beauty.

Typhona exemplifes this final myth. Unlike other medusas, she cannot petrify, but her blood hisses and boils when spilt, while hydras obey her, especially after she feasts on flesh. All this hints at a powerful destiny, one that may one day awaken and call her to action.

To do that, they needed a name for they say there is power hidden within names — a piece of knowledge stolen from their former home. What they didn’t know was the meaning behind their chosen name. Khariseth was a title granted to an ancient energy vortex that was a part of the Ifarine Sea in ages past.

Clinging to that identity, they compressed themselves into a single form, vaguely humanoid yet still a writhing mass beneath the surface. A hivemind within the mind of the Hive, they exist to consume, wielding the stolen energies of Murmurwoods and always hungering for more — a raging whirlpool given purpose.

In Murmurwoods, it is rare for elements to manifest as sentient beings on their own, and they typically merge with trees and animals, taking semi-elemental forms.

Yet Hksmilla, one of the Four Scholars of Magic in Jadame, was so brimming with primal energy that wherever it stepped, objects ignited into uncontrollable flames. On one such journey, the Scholar passed through Murmurwoods, and its fiery trail flowed like rivers, setting the flowers alight. This surge of energy was nearly impossible to control and it would have burnt itself out...

...If not for Aeliniel. Mastering fire and preventing it from fading was her greatest skill. As she focused on a single rose, she sought to channel the essence of Hksmilla.

In doing so, she succeeded in shaping a true elemental: Faleor. Almost entirely made of pure elemental energy, he still possessed a consistent form and consciousness. Faleor is hyper-sensitive to the elemental currents, enabling him to cast spells with minimal effort. However, he is plagued by an internal burning, forever yearning — just as fire does. It is fortunate Aeliniel watches over him, for without her guidance, he would have long ago set all of Jadame aflame — driven not by malice, but by instinct.

Instead, Eith embraced his strengths. Drawn to high places, he discovered his vision was keener than most, able to spot details from incredible distances. Grounded though he was, he became an invaluable scout for his village, proving that flight is not the only way to reach the sky.

In Murmurwoods, however, all living forms are ever-changing, and Almandines, as some call them, are no exception. Mreowa was once a creature of her kind until she discovered a crystal vein infused with faint traces of Hksmilla’s essence. Consuming it filled her with energy that transformed her forever.

Unlike many other beastly beings, Mreowa still clings to her Almandine nature. She loves hunting crystals — an activity in which she excels, sensing even the faintest traces of them. However, her evolution into a more humanoid form has unlocked new possibilities, and she now explores this fresh world at her own pace. Fancy a crystal treat?

Eons ago, Octavia was among the efreet tasked with maintaining the balance of worlds. To her, true balance lay in absolute freedom — sometimes at the expense of stability. Stuck in the Plane of Fire for what felt like an eternity, she was unexpectedly drawn in when a Murmurwoods druid’s failed attempt to summon a djinn brought her forth instead. Seeing an opportunity in chaos, Octavia set out to reshape the woods’ order in her own way, furthering the use of fire magic and, as a result, drawing the watchful eye of Halon.

Though the Murmurwoods have long embraced fire’s presence, Octavia’s arrival added a flicker of disorder to the ancient grove. Yet, through cunning and strength, she has avoided the forest’s wrath, proving herself as its unpredictable but capable protector.

Lately, however, her interest has turned to something far removed from flames and chaos. Beyond the woods, nations forge “coins” and chase wealth with relentless fervour. Amused by this obsession, Octavia has resolved to master the strange art of fortune — earning, spending, and amassing riches of her own. Ever optimistic and undeniably lucky, she is certain that wealth, like everything else, one day will be hers.

Sylvan Druid - Skirmish Hero

Like many other creatures of the Murmurwoods, Echolie was not born, but formed — a living tapestry shaped by the woods’ primal instinct to imitate and preserve. Somewhere between dream and intention, the forest breathed her into existence. Some druids believe her to be a rare form of an elemental that has been invited by the forest itself to study the world and learn its patterns and arcane trails. Though she walks in a form that mirrors elven grace, her essence is fluid, capable of mimicking the appearance and bearing of nearly anyone she has observed.

She does not speak in her own tongue, for she has none. Instead, her voice is a patchwork of borrowed phrases — echoes of words once spoken in the forest’s shadow. Touch is her conduit: with it, she conjures fleeting, whispering reflections of others — not quite illusions, not quite real — like memories called forth from the bark of old trees or surface of still water that defy reality in wondrous manner.

What Echolie seeks, if she seeks at all, remains unknown. But wherever stories are told in murmurs and voices repeat what none should speak, she is never far — her presence marked by an aura of raw mana floating in the air.

Vatawna was born on Karigor Isle, but her earliest memories are of the lands near Murmurwoods, where she spent youth wandering the outskirts and open fields in search of hidden wisdom. When her parents passed, the home she had once known lost its warmth, and the woods no longer satisfied her hunger for knowledge. Accepting the offer of an Alvari mage who saw her natural affinity for magic, she became his apprentice, studying and traveling under his guidance for many years.

Upon returning to Murmurwoods, she experienced the forest in a way she never had before — its immense flow of mana now clear to her senses. What once felt like a place of serenity now pulsed with magical brilliance, revealing secrets she had only glimpsed as a child. Entranced by this newfound understanding, she left her mentor to join a druidic circle, learning the ways of the elements and the forces that shaped the world.

Now, as the winds of change stir, Vatawna stands at a crossroads. Will she remain to defend the ancient woods that have nurtured her, or follow the path of knowledge her mentor once set her upon, seeking her place beyond the Murmurwoods?
