Fire Larva
Summon Swarm: Lays a clutch of eggs on the battlefield. At the start of next round, it spawns a stack of Fire Larvae. This stack has 8% / 12% / 16% HP of all Hive units in the hero’s army.
As the Hive, you will have access to every minion at their disposal — from the lowest larvae to the mightiest queens. Hive’s playstyle is intended to act as a monofaction, encouraging you to play with an army consisting primarily of Hive units: the more different types of insectoid units you have by your side, the stronger they are. This is further reinforced by their faction ability, which allows them to summon larvae cocoons, the HP of which is based on the total health of your Hive army — the cocoons also act as obstacles blocking pathways. After hatching, said larvae are ready for combat as a temporary summon. This ability can be further improved through the faction’s laws.
What makes Hive stand out is their adaptability to their opponents: some of their abilities scale with the enemy unit’s tier (the higher the difference between the Hive unit and their prey, the higher the damage), while others — such as Mantes — can cycle between one of three abilities to use every round. Certain units, like the Waurmos or Locusts, can devour corpses to renew and empower themselves — a skill your heroes can also learn.
Hivemind: Nest Protector — At the start of battle, gains +1 Defence for each other unique Hive unit in the army.
Hivemind: Vanguard — At the start of battle, gains +1 Attack for each other unique Hive unit in the army.
Gnat
Mutated to serve as the Hive's footsoldiers, gnats are remnants of giant flies that once roamed the Ironsand Desert. Swift and annoying, they function as scouts, distractions for more significant Hive members, and, in great numbers, a devastating swarm.
Warden Gnat
When the need arises, warden gnats are dispatched to safeguard the swarm during raids on nearby settlements. Singular in purpose, they rely on their overwhelming numbers to keep reinforcements at bay.
Ravager Gnat
Gnats evolve into ravagers for the sole purpose of sowing chaos and disorder among defenders. Their mandibles prove especially deadly against those, who underestimate their vicious str
ikes.
Locust
Locusts serve as the Hive's basic drones, tasked with delivering resources, building structures, and carrying the essence of those they consumed for further use.
Overgrown Locust
Sometimes, a Locust is imbued with so much demonic essence that it becomes highly aware of its surroundings. These overgrown drones are deployed after ravaging gnats to prepare the Hive's prey for harvest and eliminate anyone still resisting.
Harvester Locust
While common locusts are the builders, harvesters are the Hive's “foragers". These specialised drones scour the raid for resources, processing as much as they can to fuel the Hive'
s needs.
Hornet
A horrific mutation of the waspfolk, hornets were among the first creatures to fall prey to demonic corruption. With massive wings and formidable intellect, they have become a deadly air force in service to the Hive.
Chanter
Some of the waspkin retained a limited ability to speak. Twisted by the demonic powers they serve, they now chant the sweet lies about the caressing embrace and bliss in the arms of the I Dragonfly King 一 their liege.
Stinger
As their mutations intensify, hornets evolve into Stingers. Their jabs pierce even the toughest hides, injecting bio magical cocktail of venom and demonic essence that kills the
ir victims.
Mantis
One of the most vicious creatures within the Hive, Mantes represent the point where the lines between the insectoid and the demonic blur. Highly adaptable, they use basic tactics to herd their prey into inescapable passages, esnsuring their capture.
Vermillion Mantis
As a scholar, I rarely find myself at risk while traveling across Jadame. An encounter with a vermillion mantis and its incredible speed certainly tested that theory. I have no desire to repeat that experience.
Royal Mantis
Every nest is known to have decoy queens guarding the true matriarch from harm. Royal mantes take on this role, combining their incredible adaptability with unmatched c
ombat prowess.
Reaver
The first time I had witnessed a Reaver, I understood that the Hive was more than an anomaly 一 it had direction and purpose. They are not mere brutes, but predators hellbent on reaching the apex.
Menacing Reaver
Resilient beyond mortal limits and capable of obliterating everything with its many claws, this offshoot of a reaver terrifies both Alvarians and Templars alike. Its high intelligence and relentless thirst for blood make it a truly terrifying foe.
Maniacal Reaver
They say it is gruesome to take pleasure in killing for its own sake. I disagree 一 the true horror lies in witnessing a reaver tear a battalion to shreds and hearing it cackle like a maniac, hungry for e
ven more carnage.
Waurms
Waurmos were once known as semi-intelligent creatures roaming the Ironsand Desert. It broke my heart to discover they were corrupted, now serving as the Hive's siege breakers.
Devourer
Marked by the demonic corruption, some waurmos developed hardened scales and a fiery crown. Any traveler should beware, for these monstrous creatures are capable of swallowing entire patrols whole.
Pyroboros
At first, the reports of “fire wurms” evaporating forests seemed unbelievable. Those doubts were swiftly dispelled when Ylwari shared the story of encountering a Pyroboros, turning swamps
into a lake of lava.
Hive Queen
I struggled to understand the force behind the Hive until I encountered a Hive Queen. More devil than insect, she whispered of "Master Beelzebub" and his herald. It was then that I realised what we were up against一and what it would take to win.
