Xihu Town, located in the geographical center of Changhua County, is famous for its specialty "mutton stove". However, there is a tourist attraction with a long history in Xihu Town, which is the Xihu Sugar Factory that has survived from the Japanese colonial era. Since the Xihu Sugar Factory stopped producing sugar in 2002, Taiwan Sugar Corporation and the Executive Yuan Cultural Construction Committee (2006) have actively promoted the regeneration of the cultural industry, prompting the Xihu Sugar Factory to actively transform into a tourist sugar factory. It attracts a large number of tourists every week, which not only promotes the development of the cultural industry of Xihu Sugar Factory, but also drives the economic development around the sugar factory. Now, let us take everyone to know the charm of Xihu Sugar Factory (also known as Lake Sugar)!

Area 1: Railway Landscape and Culture

Xihu Sugar Factory resumed operation of trains in 2003.

Follow the old railway line, pass through Caopu Station and cross Dongluoxi to Zhuoshui Station, about 3.5 kilometers per trip. Along the way, it crosses the three towns of Xihu, Pitou and Erlin.

Passengers can enjoy the gentle breeze during the train journey. Experience the transportation route of sugarcane trucks in the past and appreciate the local characteristics along the way.

The railway is also one of the important values of the sugar factory park.

In the park, the old Xihu Station is preserved. After the restoration of the building, in addition to allowing visitors to reminisce about the past, the indoor space has been transformed into an art and cultural venue.

In addition, the railway landscape and the locomotive display area can allow tourists to fully understand the railway culture.

Area 2: Outdoor activity area

Xihu Sugar Factory has a vast campus that allows visitors to embrace the outdoors, reduce the use of 3C products, and enjoy the interaction between families and children. It also has the significance of environmental and ecological education.

Among them, the parent-child grassland allows everyone to go outing, have picnics, and engage in various activities; the barbecue area allows families and groups to have barbecues; and the ecological pool allows you to appreciate aquatic plants and fish.

Area 3: Sugar Factory

The old sugar factory and sugar warehouse are preserved in the park. In addition, the cultural relics museum and education center also preserve relevant cultural relics, including historical materials, photos, sugar making equipment, etc., which enhance the cultural status of Xihu Sugar Factory and serve as both tourism and education.

Area 4: Old dormitory

At present, the old dormitory area includes the Welfare Society Ice Shop and the Old Tree Candy House.

Welfare Society Ice Shop is currently one of the main sources of income from tourism at Xihu Sugar Factory. Its popular popsicles and ice cream attract tourists to stop and buy to taste.

In addition, the old tree candy house was formerly a Japanese guest house. The landscaping in the park is very Japanese-style. Now it has a bakery, and the fragrance of hand-made bread is in the air.

Good show at the same scene: If you have walked by or passed by, you must not miss [delicious ice cream]

The Sugar Factory Ice Shop, which has been in operation since the 1960s, was originally set up for employee consumption only, and was later officially sold to the outside world. There are currently many types of ice cream, each with a different flavor. In addition to fresh milk crispy cones, red bean milk ice cream, and mung bean clear ice, there is also Zhizai Bing, which is loved by both adults and children. A popsicle costs more than ten yuan, with various flavors and affordable prices.

🌜Special ice product: "Yue Ming Ice" contains peanuts, raisins, and raw egg yolk after protein removal, which is combined with the fresh and thick ice cream. The bright yolk is like the bright moon, it is worth trying!

🚂Sugar Factory Zhizi Ice: No saccharin is used, it is made after cooling with boiling water, and the ingredients are genuine.

Also featured in the scene: Bicycle Trail, Xihu Central Park

In 2009, the county government greened the roadside beside the railway and built it into a bicycle trail, giving tourists a different choice besides taking the train. They can not only ride bicycles on the bicycle trail, but also stroll in the countryside and enjoy the sunset.

In addition, Xihu Central Park is also a new landmark of Xihu Town. The park has a large hinterland and novel recreational equipment. After visiting the sugar factory, you can also go to the park to relax.
