How To View KMZ/KML files In The NEW Google Earth WEB:
You do not need to install any software on your computer or device
The NEW version plays in a browser. If you have a browser on your device, it will work.
The NEW Google Earth WEB also works on Chromebooks.
Find the title of the student's project you wish to view in the list.
Left click on the title of the student's project. A new window opens, which is a black screen that says, "No Preview Available" (See Figure 1)
You will need to download (save) the KMZ or KML file to view it. It does NOT open from within this window.
In order to download the file, click the blue "DOWNLOAD" button on the window. (See Figure 1)
Choose where you want to save the KMZ or KML file
You can save it onto your computer/device
(If you are logged into your Google account, you may get the choice to save it to your Google Drive)

15. The file will load into Google Earth. You will see its folder in the sidebar.
16. Click on the folder icon to see an introduction to the project.
17. The introduction only shows when you click the folder icon (See Figure 6)
Figure 6: Folder of Project Appears In Sidebar. Need to expand the folder to see its contents.
10. You must expand the folder to see all the placemarkers and view the entire voyage/trip. Clicking on the folder icon does not show you all the placemarkers.
11. To expand the folder, click the chevron opposite the title of the folder. (See Figure 6)
12. You will see all the placemarkers in the sidebar (See Figure 7)
13. You can click on each placemarker and go through the project. Watch as the Earth spins to its new location.
Please Note:
14. The projects on this page were originally made in Google Earth PRO. They did not convert completely for the NEW Google Earth, but you can still view them with a bit of tweaking.
15. Because the projects on this page were created with Google Earth PRO, all the placemarkers are inside a folder. Therefore, the placemarkers are embedded in the folder. You must expand the folder to see them.
15. Projects created using the NEW Google Earth will open in the sidebar, and you can play the project/tour "automatically" without clicking on each placemarker. You can click "PRESENT" at the top of the sidebar, to the right of the light blue box
13. The left sidebar will go away, and you get a larger view of the project.
14. You can also use the "Table Of Contents" at the bottom to navigate through the project. This only works if you do not see an enclosing folder at the top of the sidebar. The folder icon means the project/tour was created with Google Earth PRO.
15. If you do not click "Present," you can click on each placemarker and go through the project that way

How To View KMZ/KML files In Google Earth Pro - directions:
You must have a computer and have Google Earth PRO installed as an application.
Download (save) the KMZ file as in the steps 4 - 8 above.
Once you have the KMZ/KML file on your computer, click on the file.
It will launch the Google Earth Pro application on your computer. This will look different from the Google Earth WEB version that plays in your browser.
The file will open in the left sidebar. You will see a folder at the top of each project.
Click on each placemarker icon. The Earth will spin to the area where the placemarker is located.
Click on the blue link next to each placemarker icon to open the "Info Window" for each placemarker
When done viewing, you have the choice of saving the file to Google Earth Pro. If you don't save it, you can view it again by re-opening the file.
You will see this download preview button. Click to download the KMZ file to your computer. Then, open in Google Earth Pro.
====================
The PRO version will also open in Google Earth WEB, but you must "import" the file into Google Earth WEB. Because it's a KMZ file, the "Table Of Contents" does not work, and you must click on each placemarker to view.
If you want to view in your browser, use the WEB Browser section above.
