Project Goal:
Students will implement a variety of Google applications, such as Google Earth, Google Images, Googles News, Google Search, etc. to research global issues surrounding their assigned country or countries that have occurred since their birth year (1992, 1993, 1994, etc.) until the present time. They will make connections between the events in their country or countries and its impact on other nations around the globe. They will pinpoint these events and connections using Google Earth to explain the consequences of these issues to their fellow classmates.
NOTE THE CHANGES TO THE RUBRIC effective as of 11-9-10!
For each benchmark, you will be expected to provide a complete placemark for each Benchmark. You should provide at least a paragraph of info and one image.

Benchmark #1~ Media Center 11-8
Begin using Google Earth and researching general info about your country. Pinpoint your country's capital, population, and how the country's government is divided (branches) on Google Earth.

Research your country regarding significant economic issues since your birth year. Using Google Earth, pinpoint one or more areas of the world that have been significantly impacted by your country's economy. Tell whether your country's economy is developing or non-developing, its GDP, current unemployment rate, debt, what countries do they export to and what do they export, and what do they import and from where. You may want to provide information for major businesses or industries within your country. Explain (incorporating a Google Image) economic impacts using Google Earth.

Research your country regarding significant religious issues since your birth year. Using Google Earth, pinpoint the one or more areas of the world that have been significantly impacted by your country's religious beliefs. Specify what major religions are practiced in your country. Explain (incorporating a Google Image) how the country's religious beliefs impact other countries using Google Earth.

Research your country regarding any terrorist activity since your birth year. Using Google Earth, pinpoint one or more areas of the world that have been significantly impacted by your country regarding terrorist activity. Are there any terrorist groups in your countries? If so, put a placemark where they are located within your country and any other places around the globe they have attacked. Explain (incorporating a Google Image) using Google Earth.

Explain (incorporating a Google Image) using Google Earth.

Elaborate on your country's constitution and suffrage. Explain (incorporating one Google Image) using Google Earth.

Research your country regarding 1 significant event that has occurred since your birth year. Using Google Earth, pinpoint the at least one area of your country that has been significantly impacted by this event. Explain (incorporating at least one Google Image) using Google Earth. For example, you may want to discuss a weather-related event, such as a hurricane, earthquake, tsunami, etc. Or you may select a current issue, such as the drug war issues affecting Mexico, or nuclear weapons and N. Korea, etc.
