Jacques Cousteau was a brave man. He was the first man to discover underwater life at a deep level of the ocean waters. Cousteau was also a very intelligent man. In addition to his undersea exploration,he invented an underwater goggle and the aqua lung which allowed people to breathe under the deep sea. He also developed a minesweeping techniques in France’s Harbors.
Jacques Cousteau was born in France on June 11,1910. Later when he was in his early 20’s he got involved in World War II. Jacques Cousteau was a French navel Officer. (While he was doing his job he was at that time a filmmaker ,explorer, ecologist, photographer and researcher who studied the sea and life under the deep waters.) When he was in the war he got in an accident. Then finally he got married to a beautiful women named Simon Mechior and had two children,Jean-Michel and Philipe.
Jacques Cousteau was also a pilot. In 1936, he got in a serious car accident and he was afraid to fly a plane as a pilot again. But that did not stop him from his under water life. He started making underwater films or as you would call it movies. Cousteau was the first french man to ever make such exiting and wonderous explorations. His discoveries made him very rich and famous.
Jacques Cousteau died on June 25, 1997. His inventions made people want to explore the blue continent. Without his inventions we wouldn’t be scuba diving or breathing underwater, so thank you Jacques Cousteau for making such helpful equipment. And for showing us that the life underwater is cool and harmless!
Letter to National Geographic Society
February 18 ,1936
Dear National Geographic Society,
I write this letter to inform you about my underwater explorations. As I write this letter to you you will find my story very interesting I must say. I find underwater life to be harmless and wonderful .
Its if as it were always calling my name to come and see such wonderous and beautiful things. Every day it’s something new. I really like the sea. It is my second home. Nobody loves the ocean seas like i do. I am glad that i spend my time with the ocean. I wanted to invent something new such as the underwater goggle and the aqua-lung. I made these inventions to help people see and breathe. I wanted people to take some time from off work and swim underwater and see the difference it makes when you actually see it and know that it is not dangerous. Dangerous as you might think .Thank you for taking the time off and reading this letter. I hope this has inspired you as much as it inspired me. A special thanks to the National Geographic Society.
Forever,
Jacques Cousteau
