The sylphs of (originally) Hombarast are touched by the element ofair. Hombarast, when the elemental energies touched it, became considerably colder than one would expect for its latitude, but the sylphs are well suited to their windy, cold and sometimes stormy homeland. Tall and sometimes willowy-thin, with pale blue skin and blur or even more commonly white or silver hair and glowing sky-blue eyes, the sylphs always give off a sense of coldness; either in their sometimes arrogant and competitive personalities, or literally as the air may seem to be several degrees cooler in their immediate vicinity.Â
Sylphs are more independent-minded and individualistic than most, and their government is less formal and bureaucratic, depending instead on charismatic strongmen who lead as they can, and often lose power when for whatever reason they fall out of favor. In truth, it doesn't matter in times of peace, because the sylphs don't really want a government to do anything for them unless it's needed to preserve Hombarast. Technically Ivellios Torian is the king currently, but unless some crisis comes along to require his attention, his power and influence will fade. And he doesn't mind too much; being saddled with responsibilities to the nation of Hombarast is a burden to him anyway.
A sylph gains +1 to any two skills, and the ability to add 2d6 extra lightning damage to three turns worth of attacks once a day.
