Surturs are a newer race that is touched by the element of fire. In one of the most curious of circumstances, their "homeland" where the race was transformed from the original human stock, is the same homeland as that of the kemlings; the volcanic new land of Giledzar. However, it was obvious to all from the very beginning that the surturs and the kemlings are quite different in physical appearance and personality; while the kemlings are shifty, macabre, prone to dark tendencies from their influence by "elemental shadow", the surturs are, of course, directly influenced by the element of fire. They had bright red skin, glowing yellow or orange eyes and hair that is usually a fiery red, bright orange, or sometimes bright red. While the kemlings are dark and sardonic, the surturs are mercurial and emotional; perhaps too much so for their own good, as they are prone to fiery (see what I did there?) tempers that fade quickly, to be replaced by equally strong bonhomie, often for the same individuals that they were just furiously mad at earlier. They are sometimes infamous for their impulsivity too.
Surtur children are pretty rough and tumble because they haven't yet learned to control their emotions, but as they grow, the cultural pressure in their communities, and just as much so if they live outside of surtur communities, means that self-control is seen as an adult trait, and those who lack it are seen as flawed and even potentially dangerous. Surtur adults are not more prone to lack of emotional control than any other race. That said, the emotions are controlled, not gone, so a surtur pushed too far, or indulged too much either one, can start to lose their iron grip on their emotions, and those who know them well are careful of an emotional time-bomb waiting to go off when times are fraught with danger, anxiety, frustration, or over-indulgence.
A surtur gains +1 to any two skills, and the ability to add 2d6 fire damage to their attacks for three turns once a day.
