Description: Aegle marmelos, commonly known as bael, also Bengal quince, golden apple, Japanese bitter orange, stone apple or wood apple, is a rare species of tree native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It is present in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal as a naturalized species Small trees. Leaves alternate, 3-foliolate, rarely 5-foliolate, dimorphic. Inflorescences axillary and terminal, racemose or corymbose, few-flowered. Flowers bisexual, greenish- white or yellow, fragrant. Berries ovoid, woody, many seeded; seeds oblong and flat.
Flowering and Fruiting: March to May.
Economic Importance: Root, Bark, Leaves and Fruits are used. Astringent, digestive, tonic, stomachic and laxative.
