Description: Cissus quadrangularis is a succulent climber with green stems and branches. The stems are quadrangular in shape, buff coloured with greenish tinge, dichotomously branched, sub-angular, glabrous, fibrous and smooth, often leafless. They are winged but the wings are never corky. The tendrils are opposite the leaves.
Flowering and Fruiting: Spring and early summer.
Economic Importance: Because of its significant source of carotenoids, triterpenoids and ascorbic acid, Cissus quadrangularis is used for the gastrointestinal diseases in traditional medicine, and has gained significant recognition on human nutrition.
