Between most decks, particularly those with quarters of any kind, there is a meter-high maintenance and machinery space. These spaces will include water- and air-supply lines, return-lines for both, power- and data-systems cabling, etc., etc.
These spaces between non-quarters and quarters decks typically also house small CETIL units used for controlling the ship's roll, pitch and yaw. Pitch and yaw attitudes are also controllable (to some degree) by variations in the main drive's output, so those units' representation in these decks is significantly less, but roll is managed entirely by these units. Air, water and power lines run from their destinations on the decks above and/or below to the central core, an octagonal pillar that runs most of the length of the ship, from the Command Quarters deck down through Machine Deck 1.
These spaces also house the vacuum seal doors between decks. If these are deployed, they close off the decks above and below at the inter-deck ladders with very substantial doors — approximately 3 cm of solid metal — at the top and bottom level of the maintenance space.
At the boundaries of the decks that need the center area to be clear — the Stores, Shuttle and Cargo decks — there are variants of these spaces dedicated to connecting the ship's spine to a “cage” that provides similar structural support, but does so with a distributed system of smaller main beams running around the hull/deck region.

Two officers' quarters, one each originally for the ship's Commanding and Executive Officers, who were expected to alternate on- and off-duty cycles.
Both quarters on this deck are essentially identical, containing:
A desk, with a built-in ship's computer access-point, and attached seating and drawers/storage that would be automatically secured in place during combat situations.
Two locker-units, one of which has a safe built in
A single "captain's" bed-unit with garment storage below.
A small but complete bathroom — vacuum sink, zero-G toilet, and contained water/vapor shower unit.
One of these quarters is occupied by Casper Jessop.

Two officers' quarters, one for the Tech. Officer (engineer) and Marine Commanding Officer. The floorplan is essentially identical to the CO/XO quarters deck, while the furnishings follow the Flight Officer’s quarters:
