The Sorting Hat

When you are 11 years old, you're still developing your personality. At this young age, chances are that you're still yet to truly "find yourself." However, I believe that the Hat assigning your house at this young of an age, you are benefiting yourself tremendously. At 11, you are still, of course, at an extremely juvenile point of your life. However, often times people or "muggles," find motivation from their childhood dreams. Wanting to succeed in what little you had always dreamed of. In this sense, by being sorted at this age, you are given more opportunity to develop into the person that the younger you would have wanted you to be. By centering on specific aspects of a personality, one is able to more functionally develop using the skillset that they are being taught.
Although we are led to believe that we need opportunities to find our own identities prior to destining our future, I somewhat disagree. Of course, skillsets vary and such, but what if you were able to just purely center in on specific things and grow in those categories? I believe it would be just as beneficial, if not more. It is impossible to predict your future, but you can somewhat set it. By placing the wizards into their destined houses this early on, they are able to grow and thrive in their own specific areas of skill. This isn't holding them back, but purely strengthening their juvenile core. When carefully dissected, I truly do believe that this was an extremely beneficial method in sorting the young wizards. This way, they could really spot-develop in the various ways specific to the certain wizard.
