Before DJ Haidak reached his enviable stature as one of today's up-and-coming DJs, he had to go through a lot of tough times. Even with undoubted giftedness in his craft, he was not spared from adversity and setbacks. We will explore a few of these in today's blog.

1. Tough starting

One of the earliest setbacks you may encounter in creating music is starting it. It's quite normal for an individual to keep an idea in their head until this builds up over time, to the point that it contains too many details that may be too tough to handle. The unlucky ones burn out too soon with all this strain. The smart ones are quite content with starting something out and worry about making adjustments later.

2. Sounding like something familiar

In the world of artistry, there is always that nagging element that makes any creator feel as though they are trying to sound like somebody else's music. This can be frustrating, and it puts a lid on one's creativity. Songwriters need to be reminded that there is such a thing as a musical influence, which should encourage you to listen to as many relatable artists as you can. Let the inspiration come to you, and have faith that you'll soon find something that sounds more like you.

3. Outright rejection

If you are a creator of music, it is quite natural for you to seek others' approval. Unfortunately, this sets you up for rejection if you let people's opinions affect you too much. Just stay the course and be committed to your creative endeavors. You'll never really know how relatable your music truly is unless you put it out there for a big audience, as opposed to only a handful who may reject you outright for the wrong reasons.

Haidak has played at festivals alongside names such as John Digweed, Nic Fanciulli, Stephan Bodzin, Reinier Zonneveld, Oliver Weiter, Henry Saiz, Kobosil, and many more. For similar reads, visit this page.
