That is why a lot of young people these days are shifting their focus to learning how to make music as a DJ. According to Haidak, it takes more than just owning a mixer to becoming a DJ. If you want to start your DJ career, here are some steps you can follow.

The first thing you need to do is decide what kind of DJ you want to become. There are several types of DJs performing out there. There are club DJs, turntablists, mobile DJs, radio DJs, and music producers. All these have their own audiences and job descriptions. So make sure you know which ship you want to jump into.

Once you have decided what kind of DJ you want to become, you may now purchase the appropriate equipment for your DJ career path. And with that, you also have to learn and master the basics of DJ skills like beatmatching, equalizing, phrasing, and gain control. And once you’ve gotten the hang of what your equipment can do and how you can manipulate it, it’s time to record your very own mix.

When you’re satisfied with your new music, the best way to get it out there is to simply share it with friends and find a place for public online release. According to Haidak, platforms like Soundcloud already has a good population and is considered a safe place for musicians to post their music.
