Evaluation

Working as a Team was great, but time span for project was unrealistic.

Team work is vital to group performance, however there is good and bad teamwork and any teamwork that is to be successful needs to be driven by both communication, discussion and compromise and a wide and diverse knowledge base, so that those with each specialism can support those with others. Any team project does need leaders in each section of work and any project calls for personal engagement as well as professional input.

Collaborative working using remote methods has proved both challenging and rewarding.

The team's collaborative space involved a shared Google Drive, Moodle Forums for asynchronous chat and Adobe Connect for weekly synchronous meetings. All 3 of these components were necessary to undertake this project. However, developing a workflow sufficient for the needs of the team took time and impacted on our ability to achieve the aims and objectives of the project.

On the other hand, weekly synchronous meetings also provided team members with a sense of belonging and a network of support necessary to complete tasks.

This task with its varied activities including; individual exercises, group activities, online meetings, designing a website, Tutor forum has given a real experience of online education. The task has introduced me to several technologies, it has built my confidence and empowered me to start through hands on activities. It has been challenging because it was my first time with such activities and technologies. For your information, I can now confess that I often messed with our website and struggled to correct. Whenever it happened, it was a sweet but tensing learning opportunity. You needed to know the satisfaction I got after doing right without calling Ed. I will certainly dedicate more time to practice new technologies. Thanks to you all, you have not left me the same.

This project, based on remote collaborative work, has proved challenging and yet we have completed the majority of the required activities. Trying to fit the necessary number of tasks into a six-week period, with the demands of everyday work and home life was never going to be easy, and in that way the project was only ever going to be an insight into design studio work. Everybody contributed as much as their personal circumstances would allow. Communication was key to maintaining momentum and certainly the online meetings helped a great deal to keep the team on track and clarify problematic issues.
