While taking the Intro to VR Production course, our class visited the Motion Capture Room in the GRID Lab and upon seeing it I knew it was one of the technologies I wanted to become familiar with as part of my research.
Unfortunately, there were no classes at the time that worked with the Motion Capture system as part of their standard curriculum. I spoke with one of my professors and arranged an independent study to self-study the system by coming in on Sundays when the lab was available. I used a project from a previous class and added new elements to it to create a new VR simulation to use as a starting point to add characters with both stock animations and motion captured performances for custom movements.
