Father Willy Raymond, C.S.C.,
President, Holy Cross Family Ministries
Dear Friends in Christ,
My favorite children’s story is The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. It is simple yet profound, and a good example of the God of small things.
The Little Prince comes to earth looking for friends and meets a fox for the first time. When the child sees the fox, he hears the fox say, "Good Morning."
"Good Morning," the little prince responds politely, although when he turns around he sees nothing.
"I am right here," the voice says,
"under the apple tree."
"Who are you?" asks the little prince, and adds, "you are very pretty to look at."
"I am a fox," the fox says.
"Come and play with me," proposes the little prince. "I am so unhappy."
"I cannot play with you," the fox says. "I am not tamed."
"Ah, please excuse me," says the little prince. But, after some thought, he adds:
"I am looking for friends. What does that mean - ‘tame’?"
"It is an act too often neglected," says the fox.
"It means to establish ties."

With great joy, I welcome you to our fifth publication of A World At Prayer News! May the God of small things bless you in abundance.

Dear Friends of Holy Cross Family Ministries around the world, we thank God for Father Willy, the president of Holy Cross Family Ministries (HCFM), as he celebrates his 50 years of ordination to priesthood.
Father Willy took up the leadership seven years ago. He is a team player, who has built a great team not only in Easton but all around the world.
As a leader, Father Willy works hard not for himself, but for HCFM. He builds up others for greater success. He has a compelling modesty. He is driven by a need to produce sustained results. We are privileged to have a humble, hungry, and smart leader.
Father Willy, today we want to say thank you for all that you have been, all that you are, and all that you will be. We want to tell you we love you. May you illuminate many more lives with your zeal, enthusiasm, and love.

Although the global pandemic kept us from traveling to Mission Centers this year, we have reached about 18 million people in person and online as of July 2021. We did this by sharing and collaborating with our onsite teams through our virtual vehicles for communication. Our team leaders and members have been and are actively engaged in reaching out to families by phone, radio, television, social media, and email. The theme for the fifth issue of this newsletter is: The God of Small Things. The following videos and pictures show how our onsite teams are ministering to people where they are and finding God in small things.

At Family Rosary USA, we have been reflecting deeply on our mission. We’ve asked important questions: How can we help families live their vocation as “domestic church”? How do we inspire family prayer and help families have life-giving relationships with God? In this article, Alex Dee meditates on the example of Saint Joseph as a man who understood that living his vocation as father and husband meant fidelity to hard work, sacrifice, and attention to small things.

We created this contest last year at the start of the pandemic. We hoped it would offer families a fun, prayerful activity they could do at home. Now we have continued the tradition!
Gardening is a wonderful activity to do as a family - teaching important life skills such as patience and responsibility. We want to encourage families to pray together - wherever they are – so why not try a garden dedicated to Our Lady? We hope that caring for your Mary Garden will offer you an opportunity to spend time in prayer with Mary and invite God into your family life.

Is making decisions a straightforward process or does life seem like a constant crossroads of infinite possibilities, and saying 'yes' to anything excludes everything else? Kai and Libby share some techniques, including the much-talked-about Discernment of Spirits, that will hopefully make the process easier for making choices, big or small. Watch the video.

Fulfilling the mission and vision of Holy Cross Family Ministries would be impossible without the faithful support of our devoted friends and donors. We are tremendously grateful for their prayers and financial contributions that enable us to continue the important work begun by Venerable Patrick Peyton. Below you will find an example of how our benefactors are called to give and lead through their generosity. Their words are a testament to how God is at work in our ministry, prompting the hearts of our supporters to small acts of kindness, which lead to lifelong impact for the families we serve.
“Shelly and I are happy to help promote Father Peyton's goal of building strong families, spiritually strong, that is. Whatever we have, including financial assets, comes from God. We are grateful that we are able to share what we have with Holy Cross Family Ministries.”

Dear Jesus,
Father Peyton devoted his priestly life to strengthening the families of the world by calling them to pray together every day, especially the Rosary. His message is as important for us now as it was during his life on earth.
We beg you, therefore, to hasten the day of his beatification, so that your faithful people everywhere will remember his message that the family that prays together stays together, will imitate him in his devotion to your Mother and ours, and will be inspired by his holy life to draw ever closer to you with childlike confidence and love.
Amen.
