The world was in a similar predicament when Father Peyton founded his ministry in 1942, almost 80 years ago. The world was plunged into World War II as we are currently plunged in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Father Peyton began with the goal of building family unity through daily prayer of the Rosary. Father Peyton went on to lead millions in prayer at over 540 Family Rosary Rallies that drew 28 million people, including 2 million each at events in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Manila, Philippines. In 1947, he founded Family Theater Productions in Hollywood. Family Theater Productions produced 900 radio and TV programs that featured hundreds of star actors and other celebrities and had more than 10,000 broadcasts. Today that beacon of faith continues to reach the entire world.

So, what would Father Peyton do in today’s VUCA world? Today’s leaders and thinkers describe our world as a VUCA world, filled with volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. None of us know how the next week will turn out. We hope and we pray for the best to happen in our countries and our communities.  Holy Cross Family Ministries has done what Father Peyton would do: by digitally transforming itself and building its presence on digital platforms.

Of these platforms, one is unique: HCFM’s PrayFest on the Familheey App. PrayFest is the single platform that has brought together everyone in the HCFM family. In the first 7 months the results are spectacular: 2500 HCFM posts across 28 families across 17 countries in 7 languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Swahili, Luganda, Bangla, Tagalog and English.

This leads us to the next stage of taking our HCFM mission to the world: Prayer Rooms. HCFM’s Prayer Rooms is a prayer partnership program that complements and supports the local Church’s family outreach efforts across the world. Working with the Church, HCFM’s mission is to inspire, foster, and promote the prayer life and spiritual well-being of families throughout the world. Prayer Rooms are deeply inspired by Father Peyton’s 6 Mountain strategy that he used to reach 28 million directly and millions more through the media.

Over the next few weeks, we will be offering our digital platform Prayer Rooms to host and carry communications and messages from the Church leadership and your chosen community using your own language and culture. PrayFest will offer these platforms alongside the rich resources that HCFM uses to promote the prayer life and spiritual well-being of families. Prayer Rooms can be presented as a digital platform for the Church in your region. The name of the country or region would be placed before the prayer room. For example: Kenya Prayer Room or Shillong Prayer Room.

All that you need to follow up on is 3 steps:

— Create your own families for your Church parish and youth groups

— Appoint parish and youth group leaders to engage and grow their Prayer Rooms

— Encourage everyone to respond to daily posts through simple emoji-based prayer responses
