How many times does Jesus remind us that we are called to serve one another? The answer to that question is not going to be found by scouring the pages of Scripture, counting the particular references. The answer to that question is: every time we encounter another person: service. He himself says, “I have not come to be served but to serve.” (Mark 10:45)
The Fr. Peyton Memorial Centre has become a vital part of the life and service of the local community. It is a place for social and spiritual activity and growth. There is a program for senior citizens that serves to provide them with a time for prayer, a meal and social interaction. There is a vibrant youth ministry program that serves students of all ages. There is a “Meals on Wheels” program that serves meals to the homebound and to the local school children. Our facility is often used for the wake service the night before a funeral. The next day there is often a banquet prepared for the families of the deceased. There is a multi-media presentation on the life of Fr. Peyton and a museum with many of his memorabilia that informs our visitors of the service that Fr. Peyton provided to so many for so long in so many different ways
Fr. Peyton would be proud of everything that we do here in his memory, as we try to help families pray.
