Be Your Own Hero

In Collaboration with Larchmont Charter School LFP Arts & Crafts Club

In honor of Women's History Month in March, we designed a superhero mask craft project for the Hollygrove students that incorporated knowledge about astounding women throughout history. The superhero masks were symbolic of the heroism of these women and were a vehicle to show the students that anyone has the potential to be a hero - even themselves. The care bags we created for the students included plain superhero mask bases for them to decorate, crayons, construction paper cutouts, and a Women's History Month activity booklet designed by the Larchmont Girls Build LA team. The Arts & Crafts club also made a video tutorial for the students to follow at Hollygrove's morning sing. Together, we created 200 care bags that Hollygrove students picked up through their weekly grab-and-go lunch pick-up. We hope that this Women's History Month craft project gave the young students an opportunity to have fun and take their minds off the present time's distressing events and ongoing pandemic.

Inside the care bags the students found:

  • One (1) Women's History month pamphlet.

  • One (1) Glue Stick.

  • One (1) Construction Paper Cut Outs.

  • One (1) bundle of Strings.

  • One (1) Blank Mask Canvas.

  • Four (4) Crayons.
