8. Collaborative Relationships

This artifact describes the importance of collaborating with parents and creating a positive relationships with the students and parents.

The knowledge indicator 8D from the Illinois Professional standards (2013) states, "The competent teacher understands the benefits, barriers, and techniques involved in parent and family collaborations" (IPTS 2013). This artifact shows the importance of teacher and parent collaboration.

What I learned from this artifact is that consistent communication between parents and teachers is important. I can create weekly news updates through school letters and social media that parents can follow.

This artifact discusses the importance of putting low income students in positions to be successful in the high school. EOS's goal is make sure that all students of color and low-income students have equal opportunity in high school programs.

The knowledge indicator 8M from the Illinois Professional Standards (2013) states, "uses digital tools and resources to promote collaborative interactions." (IPTS 2013) This artifact shows the increasing numbers of students in AP classes which is a big step towards student success.

In this artifact, I learned that data behind outreach students. There are myths about low income student not entering AP courses, but through data, there have been more students entering and passing AP courses at Richards high school.
