I am an economist working on political economy and development economics, which often draw me into economic history. Key topics that I study include: the relation between (political and economic) institutions and economic performance; mass media effects in politics and economics; the political roots and consequences of violence and state weakness; electoral fraud and clientelism; and fiscal theory and policy issues, especially political economy.
