Promoting a culture and environment of safety for residents is a responsibility that our geriatric residency training program takes seriously and works collaboratively with our university and PGME office to ensure the best of safety standards are followed. Standards and guidelines are developed and enforced by both the PGME and the Royal College through compliance with specific Standards B. In keeping with these standards, the Geriatric Residency Training Program committee reviews safety standards regularly to ensure that these are met and make amendments where necessary.
Our geriatric training program ensures the safety and wellbeing of residents both in the general terms as well as personal, environmental, occupational, psychological safety are met by following the procedures and guidelines as outlined by the PGME, PARO. The agreement also states that each hospital has the responsibility to provide reasonable security for all residents in all hospital facilities.
