What travelers can come to expect before and during flights

Outside of work and cars, Gene Bernshtam is quite fond of travel. It’s one of his go-to methods for recharging batteries. He would typically head to an exotic place, one which he’s never been to before, experience new culture, and explore the area.

However, traveling has experience quite a change these past few months because of the COVID-19 pandemic. After travel restrictions get lifted, security protocols would be put in place in airports and airplanes to ensure the safety of travelers everywhere.

Here’s what people can expect before and during flights, according to Gene Bernshtam.

More steps pre-boarding

Airports now have thermal scanning and disinfection procedures. Social distancing is also in place, making queues longer than before. It has also been reported that some airlines shut down their check-in counters earlier than usual.

Staggered boarding and distanced seating

Boarding and disembarking may also take some time as airport and airline crew and staff have been instructed to usher people about via small groups. Patience is key.

Also, since distanced seating will be implemented, planes will fly fewer passengers. People can expect an increase in plane tickets because of this.

Reduced contact

Gene Bernshtam recommends that travelers bring food, or at least eat before flight. Food services at some airports and in-flight meals in some airlines may be scarce, to limit contact of people with staff and crew.
