mechanical

Areas we cover

Members of our mechanical team cover a wide variety of interests, all of which are vital for our team's competition success.

The department is overseen by a student leader, the Mechanical Director, and has three student Officers that run their individual sub teams; Safety, Fabrication, & CAD (Computer Aided Design).

General mechanical responsibilities include: learning general safety practices such as what PPE to wear, safe tool use, designing our competition robot, doing the math and physics to determine the best way to manufacture the robot, actually manufacturing our robot and repairing it as needed.

ways to get involved

Mechanical:

Interested in learning to build something? You can learn about the basic tools, materials, fasteners, and systems that our team uses to build our robot. Start by participating in our trainings & ask questions so you can help build our robot!

CAD:

Can you think in 3D and see how ideas can become reality? This sub-team would be great for you. Start by learning about the kind of software that is out there and practice drawing things around your house. Attend our trainings and you could help CAD our robot into something great!

Safety:

A key element of any FIRST team! Knowing how to use each and every tool safely and what personal protective equipment to wear is important to making sure all students are able to participate on the team without any injuries!
