Educational Studies Program
Educational Studies Program
In this program, we are taught how to work with children, youth, and adults in various learning settings, institutions, organizations, and businesses (ASU). Over time, we develop skills that help us establish essential educational setting methods. Each student also works toward completing their internship (over the course of two-semesters) where in the first semester we work towards prototyping a solution to an educational challenge, and in the second we work towards finding a solution.
I chose this educational studies program for a few reasons. My first reason being having the opportunity to attend via the College Achievement Program through Starbucks, where we receive full-tuition coverage. This amazing opportunity led me to research the different options I had here at ASU. After researching this program, I knew it would be something I would feel comfortable and excel with. This program has taught me so many things, such as communication and collaborative skills, as well as how to work with others who live thousands of miles away from you. Interning at my job has helped me feel confident in not only this program, but in my future self.
With my educational studies degree, I hope to put it to full use and do more research on the many jobs I can apply for. I originally chose this degree in order to work towards becoming a middle-school teacher. After working at my internship, creating and applying prototypes, and working together with a team, I am re-thinking how I want to utilize this degree. I now realize I have many options I can choose from for my future career!
