This Week

END OF SUMMER update

I know you don't want to talk about it, but most schools go back in less than two weeks?! I hope you have had a wonderful summer and are getting ready for the new year. Whether you'll be starting college, moving to a new school or just a new grade, remember that you are not alone. God will be right beside you through it all.

As I wrap up my own time at First Pres, I am relying heavily on the passage from Isaiah, "so do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." I am not sure what the future has in store for me, but I do trust that God has a plan.

This week I met with members of Education Commission to hand off important information about youth ministry. They are working hard to get things in place for the start of youth programming. Please be on the lookout for emails and posts to this website with updates.

Next week I'll be going back up to Montreat to serve on the leadership team working with MYC alum. I'll be back in Athens on Saturday in time to prepare for our End of Summer Party on Sunday, July 28th and my last day  will be July 31. After August 1st you can reach me at kimjness@yahoo.com.

*For our end of summer party, we are going to keep last year's youth groups together. Middle School will be for those who were in middle school last year, plus our rising 6th graders. High school will be for those who were in high school last year, including our graduated seniors. Once the new youth group gets under way at FPC, rising 9th graders will move into the high school group. Thanks for understanding.
