Please refer to Factions and Ranks for an overview of all factions. Read up on the details on how the Peacekeepers work below!
Founded in 1972, the Peacekeepers are a government sanctioned military force created by the Company to care for the people in the city of Thalos. While peacekeepers are stationed all over the world, Thalos is where their main base of operation lies; Peacekeeper HQ. After the police were abolished in 1983, they became the primary law enforcement seen around the globe. Doubling as both military and police, peacekeepers patrol the city and keep civilians safe. They perform many of the same tasks modern police do, however unlike police, peacekeepers more often patrol on foot. Throughout the city there are many peacekeeper outposts where officers are stationed, typically footmen or privates. They will patrol the area around their station, and respond to calls as needed.
Though their forces are large, the Peacekeepers are stretched thin and resources are scarce. Unable to accommodate the massive surge in growth over the past few decades, the Company strategically sends out peacekeepers into spaces where they will be seen by the public eye, to create the illusion of staggering numbers. As the company continues to take over new territory, they must resort to recruiting younger and younger officers to fill the increasing demand of manpower. It is now more common to see young individuals in high ranking positions as a result. They do not currently have the resources to attempt to attack the Revivals head on. Their forces are still much larger, however the exact location of the Revival's Heart is unknown to them, and would suffer major losses trying to siege as is. For now, they attempt to downplay the threat level of the Revivals, and circumvent offensive assaults to avoid creating panic.
Peacekeepers are recruited in a variety of different ways. From public events, to scouting in schools, the Peacekeepers look for individuals that prove to be promising. Mutations that may be useful (or need to be controlled) can catch the attention of recruiters. People also have the option to enlist themselves and can be accepted so long as they meet their standards. Some may even start in higher positions. The typical recruit will start as a private. After a year, privates are expected to pass a competency test. They have three years to pass the test with a 90% or higher. Once they do so, they are promoted to footmen. Throughout their career as a peacekeeper, officers will have opportunities to gain connections, promotions, and even transfers into new positions. All of this can be achieved, whether through a little blood, sweat, and tears, or through a bit of bargaining.
The main weapons used by Peacekeepers are typically firearms of some kind, which are provided to officers by HQ. More traditional weapons, such as swords, are allowed. Some Peacekeeper firearms are equipped with magic signature readers, which only allow the gun to be fired if the officer assigned to it is holding it. The technology is typically found on large guns, such as rifles, that belong to high ranking individuals.
The Peacekeepers are broken into three different branches, each with their on duties and responsibilities, however a body known simply as The Grand Council oversees all Peacekeeper operation. Representatives from the Company, all directors of each branch report directly to them. The Director of Intelligence, the Field-Marshal and the Surgeon-General are the highest Peacekeeper ranks, which are expected to keep things running smoothly. They more closely monitor the status of their respective branches, and though they have power within the Peacekeepers, the Grand Council's word will always take precedence.
There are many other jobs within the Peacekeepers that are considered to be civilian jobs. These people do not experience active combat, and include secretaries, grounds keepers, mechanics, pilots and more. Officers themselves are all given special identification cards and badges. These are required when on the clock, and they give each individual certain levels of clearance to different facilities and equipment depending on their rank.
Below are more details about player ranks, how they work and what they do.
Specialized task forces, these soldiers are used for offensive maneuvers, and scouting the perimeter looking for any illegal or unwanted activity. Their defense is through gathering intelligence and reporting to Corporate Defence upon any findings. They try to gather intel on any and all who might want to break the peace brought to the world through the Company. Unlike Corporate Defence, Special Forces have several smaller squadrons from A-E, and are often sent out on high-risk missions instead of patrolling. They are also more likely to have agents specializing in operative tech, and have more access to weaponry & tech. They have 4 ranks available. Characters tend to have high stealth stats as well as attack stats.
Senior Squad Leader, who keeps everyone in line and assigns tasks to those below them, reporting directly to the Director of Intelligence. They’re in charge of organizing and interpreting data found by Experienced Agents and Tacticians. They collaborate with the head of Corporate Defence to take down enemy targets and keep the city safe and sound.
Assistant Squad Leader helps the Senior Squad Leader run the show by way of helping them interpret data as well as train and keep testing troops, even going so far as to work alongside the Brigadier of Corporate Defense to create training regimes rigorous enough to keep everyone in shape.
Tactician is the brains of the operation. They often maintain Thalos’ technical systems, such as making sure firewalls are up as well as intercepting any odd broadcasts to prevent panic in the general populace. They manage the ISPs (internet service providers) as well as general network encryption and security. They also experiment with Majium to create new weapons to use on those who oppose them.
Experience Agents are your small group of offensive professionals. These are often privates who did exceptionally well on their competency test. They carry out tasks made by the Senior and Assistant Squad and are very adept in combat. They oftentimes help provide further muscle for the Corporate Defence as well as retrieve sensitive information on possible opposition from the field, in conjunction with their Tacticians.
A militarized police force paid for by the Company, these soldiers are the most common members of the Peacekeepers force, and will be the ones civilians see patrolling the streets all times of day, keeping the peace. With three large forces each with their own Brigadier, they make up most of the Peacekeepers’ forces, and are often the first on the scene. They interact with the more Specialized Forces to get dirt on the enemy and ideally move in to take them out -- usually by way of questioning. They too have 4 ranks. Characters tend to have high defense and attack stats.
The Brigadier is one of the the Field-Marshal’s second in commands. They delegate orders relayed from on high through the Field-Marshal and organize the shifts for outposts. They’re often sent by the Field Marshal to communicate with the Special Forces and even organize training regimes alongside them so the two forces can be in optimal in the field.
The Lieutenants are two of many that help the Brigadier run groups of patrols that run in and out of Thalos. They manage the groups alongside the Brigadier but as there are more of them, they can be sectored and distributed as appropriate.
A Footman is your trained infantryman. In charge of general surveillance of the city, they continue further training and upkeep under the Brigadier and Lieutenant. They are typically assigned to one of the many outposts in the city, where they will patrol a designated area until they are reassigned either back to HQ or to a new outpost. They are allowed a weapon of their choice, though they are at least armed with a taser at all times. Footmen are also expected to help shadow and help train incoming privates
Privates are men in training working under the above ranks to train. They're usually drafted directly from the militaristic school based in Uptown and sent to train. They're expected to excel in every training regimen and pass the Competency Test once they're ready to take it. Until they pass their Competency Test however, they're not considered full members of Corporate Defence. They have three years to pass their Competency Test with a 90% or higher. Failure results in contract termination. Until they take their test, they are closely monitored, spending most of their time at PK HQ or at the Crossroads Base. They are sometimes sent to outposts for more hands-on experience.
These are highly trained and specialized personnel that keep the Peacekeepers healthy and in good shape. They're split into two smaller teams. They are often well synchronized and efficient in what they due, thanks to not only military training but also their discipline in medicine. Sometimes these personnel can be found in outposts or stationed in high risk areas to keep Special Forces and Corporate Defence in tip top shape, no matter the circumstance or what may be in store for them. There is typically at least one of the Corp at every outpost. They have 4 ranks. Characters tend to have high Stamina and Intelligence stats.
Medical Officer is one of two right hand men of the Surgeon-General. They run their med team and delegate tasks to their Colonel to carry out, as well as to their medical practitioners. They keep the Medical Corps a well oiled machine by keeping their group's records up to date as well as checking and maintaining medical supply stores, often coordinating with other Medical Officers. They're consulted on high risk missions as well as required to train other high ranking personnel in basic first aid for maximum coverage as they combat this unseen enemy. They're often consulted by other medical personnel as well for their knowledge and experience.
A Colonel is the Medical Officer's second in command, with many of the same responsibilities as the Medical Officer but with a key difference; they do most of the training with Medical Students. While the Medical Officer focuses on training all personnel, they specialize. They also are sent on patrols with the other personnel, but not nearly as often as the Medical Practitioners. Each Medical Officer appointed by the Surgeon General is allowed to appoint their own Colonel.
Medical Practitioners are your core caregivers within the Medical Corps. They take the tasks delegated to them and complete them in as timely a fashion as possible. These personnel are in high demand for the Medical Corps and are sometimes drafted from other cities like lower America or the UK due to there being so few that fit the bill for the Peacekeepers locally. They're expected by the Company to always be current with the tech available to them and keep up their training.
Medical Students are your green behind the ears noobs. Often still working towards graduation from medical school (still in school basically), they are here to prove they can do more than just the textbook says and perform in the field and get their service hours. There are very very few Medical students, as very very few are good enough to be drafted to something as exclusive as the Peacekeepers. However, due to their lack of experience they can become a liability in the field.
