Carry on to learn about each playable faction below! Details for each one can be viewed under the Factions and Ranks page.
Info: Revivals are a group of rebels fighting for the right to exist without Company influence. Seeing as they are not aided by the Company in any way, the Revivals live day-to-day life in a rather organic fashion, living off the land. Originally nomadic, within recent times they have finally found a more easily guarded clearing within the Faerie Wood -- aptly named the Revival’s Heart -- that is rather resistant to Peacekeeper infiltration due to large amounts of raw magic energy that emanate from an old abandoned mining rig nearby. Food is often grown or hunted for, with magic-powered greenhouses alongside hunting parties. Other times, warehouses are broken into and resources are stolen. More often than not, faeries are only glimpsed by the other side in darker clothing meant to hide in the forest they live in, and can sometimes be the last thing a Peacekeeper will see before it fades to black.
Character Impacts: If your character is a mutant, they’ll have a scar on their right arm where the chip was removed. Non-mutants are often an asset to the Revival cause as a result of this, as they have far more anonymity than a mutant would; without a chip or number to their name, they're much harder to identify and track down. Mutants and higher profile humans alike will have to lie low to prevent being caught or recognized by any city CCTV. They are fugitives when in the city and are targeted on sight. However, during busy festivals with numerous people, there are too many people to track and blending in is much easier. Non-mutants are in more danger than mutant Revivals once they've turned their back on the city, so make sure they have a reason for leaving the safety of citizenship under Company rule.
Info: Peacekeepers are, as stated, highly trained professionals. The Peacekeepers double as a police and military force. Funded by the Company, they live and breathe the Company and their intent. Their main base of operations is Peacekeeper HQ, located in Thalos’ Uptown District. However, their reach is not limited to Thalos. There are Peacekeepers not only in the city, but all over the planet. Their duties range from everyday patrols throughout the city, to active combat, all the way to just simple office work. Serving in the Peacekeepers is what some would consider an admirable undertaking that is worthy of praise. These upstanding individuals can be identified by their designated uniforms and are the people to go to when in need.
Character Impacts: Characters in the Peacekeepers are just about as diverse as Thalos itself. People from all walks of life find their way into the ranks, regardless of their mutant status. Your character is just as likely to be a non-mutant as they can be a true or synthetic mutant. Although all are welcome to join, the most valued officers are those with powers that are strong, and that are useful in combat. Non-mutants are unlikely to be seen holding any high ranking positions, as mutants are considered more capable. Officers, no matter the position, are often physically fit from their past training. There are many perks working for the Company, including the extension of their freedoms within the city. Peacekeepers are allowed special clearance throughout the city and depending on their rank, may gain access to restricted areas, supplies, and weapons that may not be available to citizens. Makes you question what the definition of freedom in Thalos really is...
Info: Civilians are a neutral party introduced at the end of ACT I - Humanity's Constant. Civil unrest is at its peak, and the whole city's protectors and politicians alike are now under scrutiny by the lower classes of Thalos. As a civilian, you are in a position of outside looking in. You may agree with the morals or ideals of either side, but you're not necessarily ON a side. You, as a Civilian, walk that fine line of purple in the sense you are only generally aligned with yourself and your own morals. This gives a unique opportunity to find out things from either side, play both sides of the coin. You are, as far as a faction goes, a mediator capable of learning both sides of the story -- would you use this for the best of intentions? Or no? You decide... the company isn't watching you after all.
Character Impacts: True mutants, synths, and humans are all mixed into the society of Thalos. As a civilian, your character can be any of the three, though currently, mutants are the majority in the city. Civilians can have any occupation that they wish, within reason. Depending on where they hail from and how they look, civilians can move about Thalos with relative ease, though some more mutated individuals may have to jump over more hurdles. Civilians are free to align with the Revivals or Peacekeepers, and perhaps even work with them. They have the freedom to do quests from either side and earn reputation from both. This gives unique opportunities to learn more about the world around you but without the limitations of a faction breathing down your neck. You are the middle man! What you do with this, is up to you.
