What values do I hold?
How do these values shape my teaching?
As an educator, I hold social and cultural values. Social values shape students to engage with their peers to express and grow communication skills. This will allow students to value the community around them as they develop into young adults. Cultural values educate students about the diversity around them and make sure that they respect and value what their classmates are bringing to the classroom. Our responsibility as teachers is to inspire students to work within their community by helping them become aware of personal principles. These values shape my teaching because as teachers we are preparing our students beyond their K-12 schooling experience by promoting the growth of democratic citizenship. By helping in the development of fundamental critical thinking skills students will have the opportunity to value the diversity and inclusivity that the classroom has.
