What beliefs do I hold about education and learning?
My belief in teaching and learning is making my classroom safe and healthy for all students. Each child is uniquely different and it's essential for me to show support to my students by providing them with the necessary resources. Being aware that each student feels comfortable within the classroom is vital. As a teacher, I hope to regularly check in with students, regarding their academics and any concerns they may have. As we start a new school year, I will set up classroom norms and rules. Firstly, I will add my expectations for my students and allow them to voice their expectations for themselves and their peers. With this technique, I want to make students feel heard within the classroom as they will continually use this space for their learning. I want my students to interact with each other and see what their peers can contribute. This will allow them to develop relationships with their civic society. Schools and classrooms are preparing students for this as they should make others feel included. They are spaces where children can have relationships with other students and feel valued.
How do these beliefs shape my teaching?
These beliefs shape my teaching because they allow me to let my students grow independently. They can flourish into confident students who are ready to learn every day. I hope to become an impactful teacher who will allow their students to feel ready for academic success and the future. I want to connect with all my students by supporting them. Being aware of their strengths and weaknesses will help me better understand how to support each student with the appropriate resources. Each student should feel valued and confident as they will engage critically with ideas that will contribute as a fundamental piece of democracy.
