I am currently a student ambassador for Dominican University of CA. My role consists of interacting with prospective students by providing them with a campus tour. I also check in with students via email and phone in case they have any questions regarding the majors and programs we offer. This position has given me the ability to adapt to new communication and social skills. 

During my time at Dominican, I've had the opportunity to partner with Coleman Elementary School as a student-teacher observer to complete the requirement for two service-learning courses. Throughout the first and second semesters of my Freshman year, I worked closely with the elementary school and took on the role of a library and teacher assistant. I have completed a total of 40 hours of volunteer service at this location. I have enjoyed every aspect of learning about the school and the large population of diverse students it serves. Service-learning courses have provided me with a unique perspective of the local community. 

Throughout my Spring 2023 semester, I took the course Ecology & Religion which included a service-learning site at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy. My class met at the institution weekly for approximately 2 hours. We strived to support underrepresented students by working closely with them during their class sessions. This course connected service-learning and lecture material. 

Another service learning placement I have had the opportunity to take part in is at Canal Alliance. At this site, my peers and I worked closely with undocumented individuals weekly for 2 hours. The organization aimed to help these individuals obtain their driver's licenses within our 5-month collaboration. We developed study habits with each member according to their progress and kept track of what they studied each week to guide our following study sessions.
