This website is created for students who begin their senior research and their research project involves human subjects.
Any research that involves human subjects (your volunteers), such as a survey, collection of samples, or use of medical records, needs an IRB review. Here is how to apply for it:
1
Prepare required documents, such as:
solicitation materials (see Solicitation Procedures for more information)
informed consent form (see Informed Consent)
complete list of survey questions as they will be printed/copied (if applicable)
link to a working version of an online survey (if applicable; see Online Surveys)
detailed description of medical procedures and tools to be used (if applicable)
site permission to conduct your research or use the desired data collection
2
Go to the IRB website under the Felician University website. You should see a link to the IRB application. Click on it.
3
Fill out the form. It contains basic questions about your research.
It is the Principal Investigator's (PI) responsibility to apply for the IRB review. Upon submission, the application will be forwarded to your research advisor.
The Application begins the IRB review. If all the questions are answered to the reviewer's satisfaction, (s)he will issue the letter of approval within a few business days. If the answers require clarification or more information, the reviewer will contact you via email. Please check your email frequently during the process to avoid delays.
4
If you have any difficulties navigating through the application, here is a sample IRB Application posted below. Do not copy the exact answers. Rather, use this document as a guide on how to fill out the form.

If you have any questions, please contact Sister H. at grzeszczukh@felician.edu.
Remember that you cannot begin your research before your project is approved.
