Headache

A headache is a very common condition around the world, with nearly 7 in 10 people have at least one headache each year. Headache can cause pain and discomfort in the head, scalp, neck, or even ear The International Headache Society identified 14 different types and sub classifications of headaches. The most common ones are tension-type headaches and migraine headaches.

Tension-type headaches are often described as feeling like a tight band around the head, a dull ache in the forehead/temporal region, or even eye strain. The onset is usually related to muscle tension/tightness in head or neck region. Poor posture and stress are main contributing factors.

Migraine headaches are severe headaches which can cause throbbing and pounding pain. The pain usually locates in one side of the head, although both sides can be affected. Meanwhile, patients experience some special symptoms, including: photophobia (pain in the eye from exposure to bright light), nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, weakness/numbness on one side of the body, and/or extreme sensitivity to light/sound.
