About school OŠ Brodarica

The Primary school Brodarica was opened in 1999 and today it has about 322 pupils in 15 class divisions and also as a part of our school we have a small district school with two class divisions in class teaching in Grebaštica and one district division on the Island of Krapanj. There are 35 employed persons in our school. Since the very beginning we have been working with the local community and parents. Although our school is relatively new and modern in equipment it is small for our needs and this is why we organize work in shifts. English language is taught as an obligatory language together with German and Italian.

We have been developing e-learning materials about the EU and using different e - learning activities in everyday learning and teaching for almost ten years. Although e-learning is used to support the traditional way of teaching, we are trying to find (new) different approaches and new ways of teaching and learning. We have created many lessons about the European Day of Languages, the Day of Europe, the EU's bodies of law and currently we are having a project about the European Year of Youth. We are aware of problems in our school system in which we have too many students in classes and we have different school system from other EU countries (only Primary education is obligatory) so we would like to share our experience with other schools concerning Erasmus + program and motivate students and teachers to understand better and learn more about different cultures and educational systems throughout the EU and to become fully aware what this European community can bring to ours.
