By sending out digitized information, we give extraterrestrial lifeforms the opportunity to decode our data (Rumsey,1999). They will hopefully be able to meaningfully interpret the information on the Golden Record. Digitizing the information will be more helpful than, for instance, sending a piece of paper with english writting on it. By sending over into space a variety of digitized media (Golden Record), we give different lifeforms different ways to decode and understand us. What stood out for me in the readings was that it is important to keep data fresh and and encoded in readable file formats (Rumsey,1999). It is important for the data on the file to remain the same and not be compromised or tampered.
My 10 tracks:
1- Flowing Streams
2- Ugam - Azerbaijan bagpipes
3- Beethoven 5th, part 1, Otto Klempeper
4- Cranes in their nest - Japan
5- Mozart - Queen of the night - Eda Moser
6- Morning Star and Devil Bird - Australia
7- Navajo Night Chant - America
8- Melancholy Blues - L Armstrong and HisHotSeven
9- Kinds of Flowers
10- Bach- Gavotte en Rondo - A Gramiaux
Why did I choose these tracks?
I chose these 10 tracks because my criteria was to choose 10 tracks that had a variety of sound patterns. I think this is important because extraterestrial lifeforms might not be able to interpret all of the sounds in each tracks.
