Hello everyone! Above is a picture of me and my bag, and the contents of my bag. In my bag, each object is important to me. I carry my bag everyday when I go to work, or when I go to to study at the library. Each one of these items in my bag help me achieve my personal and professional goals. My water bottle keeps me hydrated, my MacBook helps me complete academic and work tasks, and helps me research and enhance my knowledge even further on various topics, my notebook helps me brainstorm and write down ideas, my red case provides me with pencils, pens, and markers in order for me to take notes, my AirPods (bluetooth earphones) give me the opportunity to complete tasks in louder environments and to sometimes just chill, take a study break and to listen to music, and my Star Wars novel is there to also provide me with entertainment when I want to take a break from studying or during my lunch hour at work.
All these items in my bag, excluding the water bottle, can be considered "texts" because each one provides a variety of texts that each serve a different purpose. Through all these texts I can look back and reflect upon something they taught me, a lesson learned, or a feeling. These texts can also propel me forward and make me recognize the value of learning and progress. For instance, if I look in my MacBook, I have so many past assignments that I sometimes look at. When I look at these "texts" I recognize how I have learned and improved and it makes me want to keep on learning and to keep on getting better day by day.
I believe the text technologies in my bag are my MacBook, my notebook, snd my Star Wars novel. When I think of the term "technology". I think back to my first course of the MET (ETEC 565B). In this course, the word "technology" showed me how a technology over time evolves. For instance, a chalk board can be considered a "technology" and then it evolved and became a White Board, and then an Interactive Whiteboard. In my bag I feel that I have a variety of "text technology". These items show how I have adapted to new "text technology" but at the same time I am familiar and comfortable with using older "technology". Both sets of "technology" push my thinking and creativity.
I do believe that my bag 15 years ago would have had my notebook, my red case, my bottle of water, my novel, but it would also have a dictionary, a walkman or Mp3 system, and wired headphones. But my bottle of water would not be exactly the same. It would probably be a plastic bottle, like the Swell one I have now that is made out of metal and it keeps my water cold for up to 24 hours.
If an archeologist were to examine my bag in the future, I do believe that they would see how I was one of the people who was caught through an "evolutional technological transition", meaning that I used different "text technologies" and that I adapted to the most evolved technology that was available to me, but I would also use older text technology throughout my daily life.
