The mission of this website is to educate teachers about linguistic analysis and processes through a series of online Professional Developments (PDs) and to create a community where educators can share knowledge about this topic, results of linguistic analysis that they have conducted along with instruction methods, ideas and experiences.
The guiding principle of this website comes from the research question in the capstone paper, Incorporating Linguistic Analysis and Processes into English as a Second Language Instruction.
How can an online professional development resource and community for teachers support understanding of using Linguistic Analysis and processes to deepen an educators understanding of a student’s native language ( L1) in order to develop more effective instruction in the second language (L2)?
This website contains information about Linguistic Analysis and processes along with information about incorporating the results derived from analysis into ESL instruction. In addition to providing information about the aforementioned subject, this website was designed to give teachers a space to share the results of their own Linguistic Analysis and to share ideas on how to incorporate the derived information into instruction.
This website was developed as the project component of the capstone project requirement of Hamline University's MA TESOL program. The concept and development of this project was done by the website's developer, a MN Licensed K-12 ESL teacher. In addition, they have a B.A. in History and prior to gaining their teaching license, taught English as a Peace Corps volunteer in Kazakhstan and at a University in China. After obtaining their ESL teaching License, they taught for two years at a private inernational school in China.
