Watercolor and Colored Pencil on Paper
concept and citations
For this class assignment, I created my first zine, a collection of watercolor illustrations depicting an evening routine. The illustrations represent locations like a subway station within the structure of objects such as a milk carton and mundane actions like vacuuming and cleaning in dynamic advertising layouts. Bright colorful gradients add energy to each illustration, while the multicolored outlines define objects while also maintaining an overall cohesive appearance.
process
After establishing the story through sketches, I created a digital layout and tested different color palettes.
I painted each page with watercolor gradients, then outlined with colored pencil.
Then I scanned each page, arranged them digitally, and printed and folded the zine.
