Our Story

In 2017 we started a STEAM class at our local high school Tauhara College in Taupo to disrupt the outdated models of the Education Industry and bring Integrated Curriculum and engagement for all students. Empowered by gaining one of the five inaugural Bright Spots awards from the Education Hub we started our Journey as the Te Waka STEAM Hub.  Our goal was to provide engaging learning journeys within localised contexts and using Real World Problem solving delivered in an Innovative Learning Environment. Over the past 6 years we have grown and developed as Educators and Leaders, having gained a wealth of knowledge to offer schools in our everchanging educational environment. Seeing the refreshed Curriculum Vision for the future of New Zealand follow in our footsteps has led us to realise we have the opportunity to provide meaningful educational journeys for the whole of Aotearoa and help develop engaging pathways for more than just our school, but also all of the communities and schools across our beautiful country.  We're inspired by the go-getters, the innovators, the dreamers and our ancestors the explorers, of which our practices and team embody that very spirit.  This approach has developed opportunities for adventuring, creating and daring to disrupt the norm.

Above all else, we develop learning opportunities with the dream of enlivening our ultimate mission to develop student potential through FUN and ENGAGING learning pathways, solving Real World Problems within localised contexts and ultimately creating young minds ready to take on the world and keep our small nation great.

2023 has now allowed us to take the next step in our journey and create Erupt Education Consultants with the aim of sharing our infectious enthusiasm and knowledge to the rest of our education whanau.
