Abstract

The following study analyses the evolution of scientific, industrial, governmental and social attention to the ventilation topic and its relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. To attain this goal, the following databases will be searched for information related to the topic over the 2015- 2020 period: Inspec, Compendex, Inspec Analytics, WIPO, Mergent and Statistic Canada. A statistical analysis of information available will be examined on both worldwide scale and its Canadian counterpart. Related fields of study, their relative interest generated and the main academic, governmental and private institutions involved in the topic will be examined through a survey of the amount of publications and patents created and through the sponsors and social involvement. The results speak of a Canadian void of publications related to the COVID topic, leaving room only for speculation on the key players that will produce it and of their respective fields of research expected. The medical aspect in Canada is expected to be covered mainly by McGill and Sherbrooke Universities. Concordia and Ryerson University, along with the NRCC are expected to cover primarily the infrastructure aspect.
