Science, technology and society during the Covid-19 pandemic
The relationship between technological developments and Canadian society during the Covid-19 pandemic
Project mission
The Covid-19 pandemic has given rise to the development, diffusion and appropriation of certain technologies over others. Technologies can play an active role in keeping our society safe, healthy and functional during the pandemic. However, they can also create a divide between individuals, communities, and groups of people, mostly due to unequal access to the latest technological developments as well as resources and opportunities.
In these projects, we put focus on scientific and technological developments that are heavily used and applied during the pandemic, and we aim to “operationalize” a strategy to measure these developments and define their relationship with Canadian society during the pandemic. We further align these developments with the responsible research and innovation (RRI) approach and give away practical recommendations for each element of RRI in order to reduce or remove the social harms around these technological developments during the COVID-19 pandemic.
