Curriculum Statement
It is our intent for our PE curriculum to deliver high-quality lessons that inspire all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities
We aim to provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way that improve their physical, mental and social health, preparing them for a physically active lifestyle in the future
Intent
For all children to actively take part in 5 main areas of sport: games, dance, gymnastics, athletics and swimming
To deliver a progressive skills based PE curriculum
To keep children physically active for sustained periods of time and increase their fitness levels
To teach and encourage children to lead healthy and active lives
To participate in outdoor activities through the curriculum and on residential trips
To engage in competitive sports and activities: inter-house competitions and intra-house events
To offer children new and exciting opportunities and experiences
To promote school and British values
To prepare children for a healthy active lifestyle beyond school
Non-Negotiables
All children have 2 PE sessions a week (45 minutes)
They consist of a warm-up, main activity / skills and a cool down
Children should be coming out of their PE session hot / sweaty
No child should be missing a PE sessions (uniform provided, no child taken out for lesson intervention)
They should know which sport they are learning and the skills involved
PE should support all children regardless of their academic ability
Support self-esteem - highlight the LAPS in PE and boost their confidence
Staff must wear suitable clothing and model excellent standards in PE
No jewellery allowed
Adaptations for COVID
PE should be taught outside when possible
Children can come to an extra hour football session during the morning
Teachers are teaching an extra PE session (children now have the opportunity to do 4 sessions as week instead of 2)
Equipment must be cleaned before and after a session
Adults must wear a mark if outside of their bubble

Now assessing every child and their personal fitness levels - reassess at the end of each term, and hopefully should be increasing. After lockdown, teachers noticed a lot of children's fitness levels had dropped, due to little / no exercise over lockdown and bad eating habits
