Main Roles of Governors at Nicol Mere
Main role or Governors at Nicol Mere is to champion children at school, so they can flourish as individuals:
Support the school leaders and also hold the leadership team to account for pupil outcomes. All data on pupil's progress is shared with the governors twice a year: Autumn and Summer
Track how pupils are doing - if pupils are doing how they're expected, governors need to find out not and how an they change that
To hold headteacher to account of how they run the school and that targets are being met. Also to support the headteacher with strategic decisions
Performance management of pupils - set targets, identify children they need to push
To ensure statutory requirements around safeguarding and curriculum are put into place within the school setting

'Interview process has taken place for the new headteacher to start in September. This took place before Christmas
Many of the governors were involved in the interviewing process of this and they decided on the successful candidate and who would be the best person for the school and the children in the school'
