Charranga: online resource which many schools have access to. Usually focuses musical learning around a key piece or around a musical concept
Finding the pulse: responding to music through movement - dance, swaying, arms, etc. Really important part of feeling and embodying music
Focused listening: not just what do we hear but what instruments - what do we notice about the dynamics
Interaction: teacher acting out sounds with movements, children reciprocate
Glockenspiel: children are given notes to a pulse, alongside the track. Musically, this is making children aware of the beat making use of pauses in-between notes and different notes.
Children are listening, keeping a pulse
Awareness of the relationship between sound and symbol
Developing ensemble skills - playing together, in time, right note and volume, etc.
Sometimes it can be helpful to practice without track; see and hear exactly what the children are playing
Could let children know what you are looking for, e.g. hear gentle playing or listening for unison
Grouping: could have different groups of C and D players, performing to each other
Self-assessment: could also record on iPads and share with the children
Teacher plans lessons around the availability of:
