Background:

I wanted to create a design where I could try adding in more text. I went into this design trying the technique where I used a title with a transparent background. I am not that comfortable using text in my designs but I want to practice more and get better at it. I used the Mother's Day idea because the holiday is coming up and I thought it would be a cute cover.

Revision:

I added a blue shadow so it didn't have the yellow highlights anymore. I did this because the image was too bright before and now the image is more realistic and balanced.

Design:

Contrast: The orange and the blue create a natural contrast with the sunset and the sky.

Repetition: I reused the color in the sky in the text so there was repetition with that particular color. The text using the same color of the sky ties in the sky and people making this design feel more unified.

Alignment: I cropped the photo so the figures are more to the left following more of the rule of thirds technique. I also aligned the text in the middle so it created a focal point and tied everything together.

Proximity: I put the title near the bottom so it was in close proximity to the mother. This shows that the title is in relation to the mother and it creates a relationship between the two.
