After flying into Barcelona to meet my host family and drop off our luggage, we headed to Venice for a few days!
On our first day, we went to several shops, ate some pasta, and eventually found an instrument museum where we bought tickets for a string orchestra concert. After the concert, we bought some pizza and gelato and headed back to our Airbnb for the evening.
On our second day, we slept in because we were very jet-lagged. We had lunch at this cafe where we sat outside beside a beautiful garden and ate pasta. After our lunch, we went on a gondola ride through the Grand Canal and a few smaller canals that were less packed! Then we went to more shops and spent our afternoon enjoying a coffee at the oldest coffee caffe in the world! Caffe Florain- established in 1720.
I really enjoyed my time in Venice! On to Varenna, Italy!
We spent a few days in Varenna, Italy, a small town alongside Lake Como. We stayed in a beautiful Airbnb for a few days of relaxing.
One our first evening, we went to a market to get some snacks to just relax and sleep. We were still very jet-lagged.
On the second day, we went to a cafe for brunch where we ate some more pasta and I got a coffee. We then took a ferry to Bellagio, another town beside Lake Como. We explored some shops, got some pastries and ate gelato before heading back to our Airbnb to pack up for our early departure to France!
My first few days in France were spent in a smaller town in France called Annecy! This was such a beautiful place to spend a few days!
On our first day we arrived we got there a few ours before we could check in to our airbnb so we hung out at a cafe. We ate dinner and had some dessert. After that, we went to our airbnb and slept for a while! We were all feeling pretty under the weather and needed some rest.
The next day, we got up and ate breakfast at a restaurant named Slake. I got some French toast and drank a yummy latte. We spent some time admiring the canals in Old Town before going on pedal boat ride on the lake! We went to a few shops and bakeries- were I ate way too many macarons and crepes!
On Easter, we spent some time walking around the city before getting on a train to spend a few days in Paris!
We spent 4 days in Paris and it was so much fun. We visted the Lourve, the Effiel Tower, and I went to Disneyland Paris. We went on a river cruise at night to see the lights of the city and even though it was raining, we had a lot of fun.
During our time in Paris we tried several cafes and restaurants! I ate wayyyy too many macarons. We even tried McDonalds while we were there because we wanted to see what other things they offered.
We made a friend in the hostel we stayed in! He hung out with us and got hot chocolate on his last day before going back home.
We spent 2 days in Amsterdam. On our first day we went to eat breakfast at a local cafe before going to a tulip garden and it was beautiful!
On our second day we went to some shops, and got some chocolate covered strawberries before going to the Anne Frank House. It was such a somber experience and I highly suggest getting tickets to it if you are traveling to Amsterdam. We did the tour with a 30 minute session about the family and then the tour of the house and the secret annex was self guided.
If staying in Amsterdam, make sure to do your research about what area you are staying in. It is known for some interesting things!
