This practicum was my first real experience at lesson planning. Assistant Teachers (AT) gave me my topics but I really had the majority of control over how I did the lesson. When lesson planning I tried my best to invison how I would like to learn this topic. I therefore always included worksheets (physical and digital) so that students would always have that work to reflect back on. However, I know that this will not always work for every student. Therefore, I always try to play videos and provide the textbook page numbers for students. At the same time, I plan out questions that I will ask while lecturing. In addition, I always try to hook students with strong and interesting facts or topics and I close with small reflective activities. Some "hooks" that I planned and completed were playing the song If Only I had A Dime by Bing Crosby and looking at This Day In History. One closure that worked really well, was having students draw one thing they learned today. I'm always collecting feedback from students to see what works well and what doesn't to improve.Â
