During the General Elections held on the 14th of May, 2023, election monitoring organisation Oy ve Ötesi deployed several thousand activists to collect data from final protocols at the level of 'ballot boxes' (i.e. precinct election commissions).
Collected data was published on their website in a special section in the form of observers' reports consisting of votes for each presidential candidate. Sometimes, a report might have included a photo of the protocol. Only data and photos for the Presidential elections were published.
On the 16 of May 2023, we detected about 57 thousand such protocols. On the 21st of May 2023, during the reading of this data, it was removed from the site. We managed to read only 34442 reports and compare them to the official results found on the website of the CEC.
This partial analysis is presented below. Both datasets can be downloaded from the page of datasets.
The data was read in the alphabetical order of the names of the provinces, so for the most part, data within displayed provinces are supposed to be almost complete.
Even partial data reveals an impressive scale and organisational effort for which this mission is greatly respected and admired.
We hope that Oy ve Ötesi will share hidden data so that everyone can appreciate the full extent of their success in the first round. As for the second round, the full data was collected, published and analysed.
