Accessing your NMR data remotely

via Software:

We recommend installing a client on your desktop to do file transfers between the nmr instruments and your desktop or laptop (in other words, to download data from the nmr instrument to your own computer):

For Windows users: the two we’ve had success with and are easy to install and use are:

NOTE: this package is likely not supported on EinsteinIT administered computers

For Mac users:

NOTE: fetch license is free for academic users. To get license, fill out form on website: fetchsoftworks.com/fetch/free

For Linux users:

NOTE: this package is likely not supported on EinsteinIT administered computers

NOTE: use "man rsync" to get all flags

Install client software on your computer if you don’t have it already.

Once you start the software on your computer, connect to the nmr instrument using the IP address below and your username and password for that instrument. If your computer is networked via hardwire on campus or on MonteRadius WiFi, the nmr instrument should allow the connection.

Use the following IP address (as hostname) to connect to the machine:

Use port 22 for the connection. Fetch users should connect using the "SFTP" option

Once connected, it is easy to copy folders within your nmr subdirectory to a directory on your computer. Once they are on your computer, they can be opened using your favorite NMR processing and analysis package such as TopSpin or Mnova.

via Hardware (USB drive):

We recommend using software as described above to do file transfers since you don't need to come to the NMR lab to get your data but if you have no way to transfer via software, you can bring a USB drive such as a flash drive and transfer your files from the nmr computer to it as follows:
